Perdue Farms: Food safety with less acid on the line.
Poultry processing line
More peracetic acid was hurting workers and doing less against pathogens. A UV-C tunnel built into the conveyor line let the plant use less acid, with the dose monitored continuously.

How it was done.
Identify
Each increase in the peracetic acid (PAA) blend brought more worker-exposure problems while doing less and less to reduce pathogen load, and Salmonella and C. jejuni resistance had been reported. PAA was a major chemical cost.
Apply
A Cognituv UV-C Tunnel engineered to give an even dose to porous poultry surfaces, built into the existing chicken conveyor line.
Verify
Continuous radiometric monitoring and alarms in Cognituv Connect confirm the prescribed dose, for reliability and traceability. The chicken came through unharmed in quality and quantity, with lower microbial load.
Successful outcomes
What changed.
- Less peracetic acid used
- Less aerosolized acid around workers
- Lower spend on chemicals
- Dose verified continuously in Connect
